The Queen's Calvary: UCF Women’s Soccer Sweep to Start Conference Play

The UCF Women’s Soccer team hit the road for a pair of Conference-opening victories. A score-fest capped off the Knights perfect start in League play.

UCF jumped out to a first half 4-2 lead at U-CONN and held off the Huskies 5-3. Thanks, in large part, to Sophomore Forward Stefanie Sanders’ hat trick, her second of the season. It was Sanders’ second half trick in the last three matches and the sixth Knight to record a pair of hat tricks in a season.

UCF Head Coach Tiffany Roberts-Sahaydak thoughts post match, “Today’s game was a bit of a nail biter, more than I wanted it to be. We came really strong, we were up 4-0. Unfortunately, we conceded a few time, but credit to this team. They grind it out, it’s not easy to play here at UCONN. And Steph with three goals, that was awesome individual effort there.”

Not surprisingly, Sanders’ performance earned her League Offensive Player of the Week honors.

Prior to the win at U-CONN, UCF won 2-1 at Temple to move to 2-0 in League play with 5-3-1 overall.

Next up, the Knights welcome ECU to the UCF Soccer Complex on Thursday, October 4 at 7PM
