Over 60 hopefuls came, from up to 2,000 miles away, to show off their stuff at Orlando Pride's 2017 Open Tryouts. The team held the event at one of their regular practice facilities, Seminole Soccer Complex. With mother nature providing perfect playing weather, the ladies were eager to warm up after a quick instructional pep talk from Orlando Pride Head Coach, Tom Sermanni. Once they had their blood flowing, they were broken up onto three pitches and the whistle was blown. As the players rotated through each station, with the ever watchful training and coaching staff taking notes, they left it all on the field. After almost two hours of activity, the ladies were rounded up for a cool down and stretch session before being dismissed.
Afterwards, Coach Sermanni said, "We always see a couple of players that peak your interest. But these trials are difficult. You know, you have an hour and fifteen minutes to play and try to show what you've got within a large range of abilities."
